Leadership development. A Dutch institute that has guided people, teams and organisations in personal leadership and transformation for 25 years, with a proven methodology and a strong, loyal community.
An Apple A Day developed the brand strategy for a leadership institute: from sharp positioning and brand archetypes to a new name, a brand story and a concrete growth plan.
The institute had reached a turning point. After years of proven impact in personal development, the ambition grew toward the corporate market: leadership and team development within large organisations. Two entities also needed to move forward together under one identity.
The foundation was strong, but the positioning wasn’t sharp. The institute had previously completed a brand trajectory with another party, but the outcome didn’t match the direction they wanted to take. The proposition didn’t resonate with the new corporate audience nor with existing clients. In a crowded training market with a sometimes woolly reputation, distinctiveness was exactly what was missing. The question to us: rebuild the foundation, and do it right this time.
We started at the core: what does this brand truly stand for? To sharpen that, we worked with the model of brand archetypes. This model distills a brand’s personality into recognisable, universal characters and forces a choice that fits from the inside out.
We looked from two angles at once: what genuinely fits the institute itself, and what fits the audience they want to reach and the clients they already serve. From that dual perspective came a clear combination. The Hero, for results, mastery and growth. The Magician, for transformation from within. Combined into one positioning: the Transformative Hero. Ambitious and distinctive, yet always anchored in who the institute truly is. The perfect bridge between the result‑driven language of business and the transformative core of the methodology.
From that positioning, we built the brand further. A brand story along Why, How and What, anchored in the belief that real change begins from within and spreads like a ripple effect. A message house that organises the core messages. A brand voice that defines the tone: honest, clear, bold, mystical, informed, reassuring.
We also delivered the strategic foundation for growth. A sharpened target audience and proposition for the corporate market, a SWOT revealing opportunities and attention points, and a series of concrete strategic projects: from branding and marketing to a trainers academy, proof of impact, automation and activating the community. And because the old name no longer fit the broader proposition and posed legal constraints, we developed a new overarching brand name that captures the essence of the whole.
A complete strategic brand plan with a solid foundation. The institute gained a positioning that fits from within, a new name, a brand story that resonates and a concrete plan to grow in brand experience and in the corporate market.
“An Apple A Day is highly skilled and thorough. With a clear approach, they guided us to our end goal: a strategic plan for our growth in brand experience and marketing. We are extremely satisfied.”
CEO of the institute
Leadership development. It concerned the brand strategy and positioning of a Dutch institute for personal leadership and transformation.
Growing into the corporate market and bringing two entities together under one identity. A previous brand trajectory hadn’t delivered a positioning that fit the audience or existing clients.
A full brand strategy: positioning through brand archetypes, a new name, a brand story with a message house and brand voice, and a concrete growth plan with strategic projects.
Brand archetypes distill a brand’s personality into recognisable, universal characters. They help a brand choose a positioning that fits from within and aligns with the audience. In this case, that led to a combination of the Hero and the Magician: the Transformative Hero.
The old name no longer fit the broader proposition and had legal limitations. A new overarching name brought the combined expertise under one recognisable identity.
A complete strategic foundation, ready to grow in brand experience and in the corporate market.
We specialise in translating complex products into messages that truly land. We make the clinical human, the technical tangible, and the abstract recognisable.
